Peggy Shumaker's Moving Water, Tucson

I really like this short essay. Like the story, I also experienced a horrible flash flood as a child. In 1997, my town has hit with a terrible flood. A kid around my age died in the flood, when he tried to ride his 4-wheeler in Brush Creek. Also like the story, my friends and I played in the creek behind my house. We didn't really find any stuff that washed away, but we had to see the hard rushing water.

I enjoyed how the author captures the reckless and dangerousness of being a child with adult supervision. Even though I have never rode a flash flood on a piece of plywood. I have done some pretty crazy stuff just as dangerous and stupid. Plus its always better to watch.
